About the Gilmanton Historical Society

The Gilmanton Historical Society was founded in 1967. Its purposes include:

  • Preserving and exhibiting artifacts, letters and printed materials pertinent to the history of the Town
  • Presenting programs for members and the public on historical subjects relating to Gilmanton and New Hampshire
  • Encouraging interest in the history and development of the Town

The Society is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and funded by membership dues, donations, and proceeds from sales of books and other publications. Donations are exempt from federal taxation under 501©(3) of the internal revenue code.

First slate of officers elected were: President Harold Brinig, VP Mrs. Geraldine North, Secretary Mrs. L. Bradley Sykes, Treasurer Miss Jean Nelson. Director’s: Mrs. John Geddes, Mr. Edward Maher, and Mr. Harold Griffin. Mrs. Harold Fellows served as Program Chair.
